Protecting Gatti Bianchi

High above the skyline in a tower office located in Coyotopolis, a lone figure sits behind her desk scanning the newspaper for the daily news and upcoming events. Silently nodding as she scans the headlines, checking out the latest sports scores and changes in stock prices, her eyes focus on an article in the entertainment section.

Perusing the article revealed that local musicians Gatti Bianchi, from the Pleasantview suburb, were signed by a major record label and would kick off a world tour starting with a benefit concert in their home town. A thin smile formed upon the reader's lips as she folded the paper and put it down on her desk. She pressed the intercom button on her phone, and a single female voice replied, "Yes?"

"Instruct operative 17 that an opportunity has arisen for her to put her incomparable talents to use. I will have detailed instructions delivered to her in the usual fashion."

"It will be done," replied the female voice on the intercom. With that, the solitary figure leaned back in her chair, smiled softly, and uttered a single word, "Soon."

Meanwhile in the Bunker, the headquarters for Team Rainbow Super Force, Chromed Avenger sat in the computer lab, completing the work on a new search algorithm to keep track of potential criminal activities in the world. Upon hitting enter; completing the final bit of computer code, the program sprang to life, instantly sending an alert signal to the computer terminal he was working at. Pulling up the search result findings, he quickly read through the report.

Chromed Avenger tracked down Ebon Huntress, Team Rainbow's leader, and relayed the information he had gathered.

"The new threat analysis program I have written has indicated a high percentage for a crime to be committed at the upcoming Gatti Bianchi concert," he explained. “I was not expecting to see results this quickly."

"We know crimes are committed all the time," replied Ebon. "The real question is, is this something to concern ourselves with?"

"That was the goal of my new program," Avenger stated.

"Very well," acknowledged Huntress. "Let's call a meeting to the briefing room to discuss our options."

Assembling in the briefing room, Ebon Huntress and Chromed Avenger briefed the rest of the team on the information they had so far.

"Gatti Bianchi? Oh yeah, they're bitchin'," proclaimed Azure Maiden. Silent stares from her teammates greeted her enthusiasm. "What? I like to listen to local music," she responded in a huff.

"I think the important thing here is that we don't know what the actual threat is," spoke Violet Haze breaking the silence.

"Agreed," confirmed Ebon. "To that end, I will meet with the band personally to gather as much information about the concert as possible."

Ebon Huntress soon arrived at the mansion which served as Gatti Bianchi's home. Prior research revealed that Gatti Bianchi's founders, Erika and Tinalena Brody, came from a wealthy family. Careful management of their trust funds as well as their scholarships while in college by the band manager, Noelle, allowed the band to build a custom establishment, complete with outdoor stage for local performances.

Having arrived at the mansion, Ebon was greeting by the housekeeper, Bettie Tidwell, a young adult who explained that she used to take care of the sorority house where the band lived and practiced in college. She also explained that the band manager, Noelle, was currently on the phone in a meeting with the record label executives, and asked Ebon Huntress if she would mind relaxing by the pool until Noelle was available.

Escorted to the pool, Ebon watched as the band members relaxed from the rigors of everyday life, presumably resting up in preparation for their big debut concert. Time paused while she watched, and she was almost startled when Bettie returned to inform her Noelle was ready to see her.

In Noelle's office, Ebon Huntress explained the details of her visit while Noelle listened with utmost eagerness.

"We'd be happy to assist you in any way that we can," resounded Noelle Wolosenko. "I'll see to it that all information regarding the venue and arrangements will be forwarded to your computer systems."

"In addition, how would you feel about Team Rainbow handing your security?" asked Ebon. "It would be invaluable for our presence to be on location if any serious crime was to occur."

"That would be excellent," exclaimed Noelle. "And it will mean I can reduce the budget requirements for security personnel."

Back at the Bunker, Ebon met with Violet Haze and Chromed Avenger to start discussing the security arrangements. Ebon asked Violet to head over to the Pleasantview Amphitheatre, where the band would be performing and start planning team placement and strategies.

Watching Violet leave, Ebon turned to Chromed Avenger and asked him to start looking for the data Noelle would be sending and to run background checks on everyone who would be working at the concert.

Having arrived at the amphitheatre, Violet Haze began to survey the grounds. He was initially dismayed at how open most of the forum was, although he figured he could use part of that to his tactical advantage. It disturbed him the most that people could come and go so easily, as was evident by the couple he saw loitering as he walked around. Securing the area to his satisfaction would be Violet’s top priority.

Meanwhile, Chromed Avenger sifted through the large amounts of data which arrived to his terminal. Cross referencing the information with international and local law enforcement agencies, he deduced what had set off his alert program's alarms.

The members of Team Rainbow gathered once more in the briefing room after Violet's return. Violet Haze handed out assignments to each of the members as to which areas they would be covering. After discussing his basic strategy of the concert, Chromed Avenger took the floor to report his findings.

"While running a cross check against the vendors, I discovered an anomaly," he spoke flipping the view screen on. "Mia Rokinovia, aka Xanadu Hustler, international counterfeiter. Authorities have been unable to apprehend her due to, according to the reports, a strange hypnotic phenomenon surrounding her. Apparently, my search program managed to tag her name under one of her hundred aliases having entered the local vicinity. It didn't take long to put two and two together on this one."

“Everyone should keep an eye out for her at the concert,” added Ebon Huntress. “Do not try to apprehend her single handedly. She has eluded the local authorities for years, so let’s make sure she doesn’t elude us.”

Finally, the day of the concert arrived. Captain Crimson and Azure Maiden took their respective positions outside the main gates to the park entrance. Despite not being in the park to watch the concert, Azure knew she had a job to do, and usually it was to keep an eye on Crimson.

Inside the park, Tangerine Mistress and Tawny Bimbo patrolled the grounds. Violet Haze had chosen Tawny for her telepathic abilities to gently scan the vendors as she walked by, hoping to detect Xanadu Hustler. He chose Tangerine to go with her as good backup in case Tawny got into trouble, and because Tangerine just behaved better around her.

Emerald Guardian, Chromed Avenger and Violet Haze stood at their positions in front of the stage, awaiting the arrival of Gatti Bianchi. Ebon Huntress was traveling personally with the band to make sure nothing happened along the way. The chance was slim, but with the park mostly unoccupied, it seemed a sensible precaution.

It didn't take long after the band arrived before their fans started arriving. Slowly, yet steadily people filed into the park past an ever vigilant Captain Crimson and Azure Maiden, and into the stands waiting for Gatti Bianchi to perform.

Without any delay, Gatti Bianchi took the stage, and the fans soon crowded around to hear them play. Ebon Huntress joined her teammates at the front of the stage, helping keep an eye on the crowd.

Halfway through the show, a tingling sensation overcame Emerald Guardian. He looked around to see what could be causing this sensation he was feeling, but could see nothing. It was almost as if he was sensing something invisible in front of him. Being from a world of plants, he had an affinity with the vegetation of our world. Moreover, the information he was receiving was something was there, and it was moving. Trusting his instincts, Emerald Guardian followed the invisible being.

Following his senses led Emerald Guardian to a closed door. Upon opening the door he found himself in a dark room, and not alone. In the corner, he could see movement, and it was the shape of a woman. Reaching over to flip the lights on, the shadows fell over the figure to reveal that in fact it was a woman, the woman Team Rainbow had been looking for; Xanadu Hustler. She was busy working a printing press, making counterfeit simoleons, presumably to pass out to guests in the vending kiosks.

Further examination of Xanadu revealed the patterns on her outfit caused a mesmerizing effect. It was no wonder to Emerald Guardian that no one could see her since it was the patterns on her costume that apparently invoked a hypnotic state upon anyone who gazed at her. Grabbing a small water vial from his side pocket, he tossed it at her, knowing that even simple water stains would discolor her outfit just enough to make her visible to everyone.

"You fool!" screamed Xanadu in terror as she spotted Emerald Guardian, stopped what she was doing, pushed him out of the way, and ran past him out the door.

Running out the door after her, Emerald Guardian got on his radio to alert the other members of Team Rainbow. Since Tawny and Tangerine were closest, they quickly joined the pursuit of Xanadu Hustler.

Xanadu Hustler was nearly to the main gates of the park when a wall of fire shot up in front of her. Through the flames, she could see Captain Crimson and Azure Maiden on the opposite side of the fire. With the rest of Team Rainbow closing in around her, Xanadu had no choice but to give herself up.

Ebon called in the local authorities that she had on standby a couple blocks away. Within minutes, a couple of local police officers escorted Xanadu out of the park.

"Thanks, Team Rainbow," congratulated Sergeant Kauker. "Interpol has been trying to get their hands on her for years."

"Team Rainbow is always happy to be of assistance," thanked Ebon Huntress.

With Xanadu Hustler safely behind the iron bars of justice, the remaining concert finished without incident. Ebon Huntress escorted the band back to their mansion where Noelle repeatedly thanked Ebon for the additional security Team Rainbow had provided.

"If it hadn't been for your concert, we would have never caught one of the world's most notorious criminals," replied Ebon. "It is we who should be thanking you."

"It’s too bad then that we can't take you with us on the world tour," laughed Noelle. "Just think of all the criminals you could put away."

Back in the briefing room of the Bunker, Ebon congratulated everyone during the debriefing for the excellent teamwork displayed in the handling of the crisis at the Gatti Bianchi concert, for this was the first time Team Rainbow worked completely together as a team.

Meanwhile, back in the tower office of downtown Coyotopolis, the mysterious mistress listened to her secretary report that Xanadu Hustler was in custody courtesy of Team Rainbow.

"Pay it no matter," she replied is a soft voice. "This is but a minor battle that they have won.

"But in the end, Team Rainbow is doomed to ultimate failure. It is as I have foreseen it, or my name isn't, Happy Birthday! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"
